Career History:
I was born in 1982 in Limpopo Province (Venda) and spent the first
18 years of my life there. I matriculated in 1999, thereafter I came
to the University of Stellenbosch to study BSc Forestry, I then
changed my degree to BSc Conservation Ecology in 2002, and graduated
in
2004.
I have always been a person who thrives in challenging
situations, and this is why I chose to study in an Afrikaans
university, almost 2000 km away from family and friends. Between
2000 and 2004 I worked as a research assistant to Postgraduate
students, and my interest in research developed from there.
Currently I am completing my MSc degree in Conservation Ecology,
focusing on Distribution of the Argentine ant in South Africa, and
I’m loving it. What really motivates to keep doing what I do is the
fact that South Africa really needs more women scientists across
different fields, and knowing that I am making a contribution, no
matter how small, makes all the hard work worth it!
